Blue October，一支来自美国德州的Indie Rock团体。成立于90年代后期，成员包括：主唱兼吉他手Justin Furstenfeld，鼓手Jeremy Furstenfeld，小提琴兼键盘 Ryan Delahoussaye，贝思手Matt Noveskey和主吉他手Brant Coulter。 乐队的成长历史颇为坎坷。Blue October于1998年发行首张专辑『The Answers』，独特的Indie Rock风格使得『The Answers』这张专辑仅在他们的老家Houston就售出了5,000张，而Blue October也赢得了唱片大厂Universal的赏识而被纳入旗下。然而两年后乐队在Universal旗下发行的第二张专辑『Consent to Treatment』因为全美电台的冷淡反应，让Blue October被迫公司解约。之后Blue October投奔Brando Records唱片公司，而就在乐队准备第三张『History for Sale』专辑之前，主吉他手Brant Coulter离开团体，CB Hudson作为吉他手兼歌手加入了进来。由于第三张专辑『History For Sale』的首支单曲『Calling You』被『美国派3: 美国婚礼』原声带收录中，Blue October再次取得相当不错的成绩，Universal又决定重新和他们签约。接下来贝思手Matt Noveskey暂时离开乐队，Blue October开始长达18个月之久的全美巡回演出，并于2005年2月发行现场专辑『Argue with a Tree』。

这张三年之后的录音室专辑『Foiled（冲击）』是我第一次接触到Blue October的作品，当然无从拿这张和前两张做比较，但Blue October的确让我着迷了。他们随性又不受既有音乐框架限制的声音及乐曲风格，是吸引我的最主要原因。从『Foiled』这张专辑，不难看出Blue October两个最大的亮点。首先无疑是主唱Justin Furstenfeld轻微沙哑、绝望又愤怒，有时近乎歇斯底里的唱歌方式；另外一个不容忽视的特点就是他们丰富的曲风和音乐元素。这还要归功于乐队的小提琴兼键盘手Ryan Delahoussaye。从小接受扎实古典音乐教育的Ryan，将他魅力十足的小提琴与曼陀林技巧，完美的与现代摇滚旋律结合在一起，这种复古情怀，实在教我无法抗拒。

或许是这个季节可以太轻易地就挑起人怀念过去的情绪，在这样的时间点上，我不由自主的一遍遍按下Replay，想要反复聆听Blue October的音乐。无论是描写感情中原本自私的一方领悟自省的首发单曲『Hate Me』，还是内心独白自言自语的『Let It Go』，Funky风味十足的舞曲摇滚『Drilled A Wire Through My Check』，又或者是充满骚灵乐风格的『Congratulations』，Blue October都有太多太多值得关注的理由。
